Description
Each of the game's 12 levels consists of a single screen Town which gradually gets destroyed by a wildfire.
The player's goal is to contain the fire by preventing it from burning down the Mayor's house, and by preventing the fire from burning more than the level's Target Percentage of the land in the allotted time.
The player does this by managing up to 6 villagers, as they frequently need to collect water from nearby lakes and rivers, and select the fires to put out.
The fire gradually grows in size before it rapidly starts to spread to neighboring tiles. While appearing manageable at first, the fire spread increases exponentially over time, naturally increasing the intensity of every level as time goes on. As the spread of fire grows more rapid, the player experiences a sense of urgency and excitement, and maybe some anxiety, as they use a quick-thinking strategy to target specific groups of fire, while sacrificing other areas of the town, as they race against the clock.

Game is really well made. Only takes a minute to get the idea of it and then you are on your way to playing. Love the ease of access of the controls and how simple yet strategic the gameplay is as well. I flew through the first 4 levels and then that 5th one was a real struggle. Really well done.
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic game!! The controls and idea are simple, but the challenge is so much fun. If you happen to be struggling with the first level, take a look at your strategy and see if things can be done differently. I love that the game puts into the action right away and I love that it's the sort of game where every mistake is on you, the player, and not as a result of bad RNG. The player can always do better. Loved it!
My Anxiety, If I could Id suggest a bucket upgrade. That Mayor is useless yo! Very hard, very good, only got to level 5 before my ADHD took hold and my brain exploded. Seemed like some clicks didn't register sometimes, overall, dope. Whooped my booty.
Waddahecc, this is so well made! I love the little introduction in the beginning, which makes it really easy to pick up and now what to do, while the challenge comes from the game itself.
I had a little bug, where in the beginning it wouldn't let me fill the bucket at the bottom water in the first level, but everywhere else, and after the first initial input, it worked at the bottom, too.
It just feels very thought through. Especially because of mechanics like that the fire can't go where the land is already burned, so that you can make "walls" to prevent further spreading.
Very fun! :) Can recommend
Thank you so much for playing! I'm glad you liked it :) We have some issues to fix on the web version, and this might be one of them. Honestly, this is the first time I hear about this bug, but your comment helps us a lot to try and reproduce.
Yooo thanks for the positive review!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Regarding that bug, thanks for notifying us. Something we'll need to revisit post-jam!
This was so incredibly fun, and stressful. Figuring that you could use the 1-6 keys helped a lot, but level 7 felt like it had a weird difficulty spike, and I think that's because the npcs were all mixed up (so 1, 4 and 6, I think were on the left, and 2, 3 and 5 on the right?), so it was harder to actually select the ones you wanted.
Thank you for playing! We've been discussing these last few days on ways in which we could make QoL adjustments and the hotkeys more useful.
I had some issues with commands not registering, but I did manage to make it work somehow. I had to move my mouse around and try again a few times.
The game is very fun, also very stressful. I felt like a fireman! Good job!
Thank you so much for playing it! We do have to fix some things on the browser version of the game, we'll take your comment into account to further test it
Very cool game, like the fact that you need to micro manage all the time and take the right decisions. Cute graphisms. I would like a faster pace to the game, and maybe a signal when a villager is idling ?
Good work :)
Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for the feedback, we'll definitely be looking to make some improvements in the future :)
UPDATE: Indeed, changing the page zoom settings centers the window and fixes it, I know how it is trying to set the resolution, window size in the engine then setting it right on the Itch page, it's a nightmare, but once it centered and the offset went away it is very fun! Like the graphics, it's an extremely good foundation, add upgrades, missions, maybe optional people to rescue? And it's kind of tough to click on people, I ended up accidentally sending the wrong people to places because I thought I had clicked on the person I wanted, but other than that it's solid!
Thanks for giving it another go! and we appreciate all the feedback, we definitely have some of those things in mind to fix it up and improve upon it further after the jam!
Seriously, thank you SO much for confirming that bug and graciously coming back to play Town Alight. Your feedback is heard and appreciated.
I wish I could play the game, I like the idea, playing it in Chrome and the game is off center from the window and so is the clicking so I can't play it right
it also sounds like the intro screen music and the main game music are playing at the same time
Oh no :( We've been testing it with Chrome on Windows, and it's been working well... If you're on a Mac, could you please try opening it through Safari? Otherwise, we also have the downloadable version for Windows.
Hey, just got your issue in another PC and I found out that changing the zoom in the browser and returning it back to its original value. We would really appreciate it if you give it a go <3
I’m so glad I came back to this game after it didn’t work at first, that was really fun, amazing work!
Quite a fun and challenging game! I love the art style, and I love the multitasking gameplay too. Very cool stuff!
please enable shared buffer array in project settings so people can play it in browser!!
Hmm weird, it does have shared array buffer support! We've also been testing it from the browser directly. What browser and OS are you using?
huh, weird. im using firefox on windows 11. it seems to be working now though?
